The Smart EV Charge IITB App is a joint initiative by the Grid Integration Laboratory (GIL), IIT Bombay and the Maharashtra Energy Development Agency (MEDA) to enable intelligent, reliable and future-ready electric vehicle (EV) charging in Maharashtra.

GIL IIT Bombay is one of India’s leading research laboratories in advanced power systems, electric mobility integration, renewable energy integration and Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) technologies. The lab specializes in real-time grid interaction studies, smart charging algorithms, and large-scale control architectures. With a strong portfolio of national and state level projects, GIL brings deep technical expertise, cutting-edge research, and robust engineering capabilities to ensure the Smart Charging platform meets global standards of performance and reliability.

MEDA, the nodal agency of the Government of Maharashtra for renewable energy and energy conservation, plays a pivotal role in accelerating clean energy adoption across the state. Through policy support, infrastructure development, and stakeholder coordination, MEDA enables the deployment of large-scale renewable energy projects and promotes sustainable mobility solutions. Its vision to build a greener, more energy-efficient Maharashtra forms the foundation of this initiative.

Together, GIL and MEDA are committed to building a scalable, secure, and user-centric smart charging ecosystem, empowering EV users, DISCOMs, and charging operators with real-time visibility, intelligent scheduling, and seamless charging experiences.
